UNIT OF TVS GROUP ACQUIRES HOME-GROWN PAN ASIA LOGISTICS, STRAITSTIMES

Singapore logistics service provider TVS Asianics has acquired the freight forwarding and contract logistics businesses of Pan Asia Logistics (PAL).
But the firm’s other subsidiaries, developer Pan Asia Logistics Investments and niche logistics product Panalogs Projects are not part of the deal.They will continue to be independently managed by founders Christian Bischoff and Susan Tan.

TVS-ASIANICS BUYS SINGAPORE COMPANY PAN ASIA LOGISTICS, THE HINDU BUSINESSLINE

TVS-Asianics Supply Chain Solutions Pte Ltd has gained access to Asian markets with the acquisition of Pan Asia Logistics’ freight forwarding and contract logistics businesses.
The $160-million Pan Asia Logistics, an integrated logistics company in Singapore, also has a strong presence in Germany. TVS Asianics is a Singapore-based joint venture of TVS Logistics Services Ltd.

BMW OFFICIALLY OPENS DOORS OF SENAI WAREHOUSE

The BMW Group Malaysia officially unveiled the brand new BMW Regional PDC in Senai, Malaysia. Having been operational since late 2016, the 775,000 sqft facility has been set up to be a new logistics warehouse and parts distribution centre for the premium automaker, replacing the previous facility in PTP, Malaysia. The warehouse will support over 23 countries in the region.
Another 500,000 sqft warehouse space will be built within the next two years in construction phase 2. The PDC is built on a 1.25 Million sqft land within the Senai Airport Free Trade Zone. As promised PAL delivered the built-to-suit BMW Parts Distribution Centre on time. Phase 1 of the project was completed by December 2016 and the facility has been fully operational since the beginning of the year.

Logistics executive Ong Moh Hong, 68, had 29 years of experience in the industry when he joined Pan Asia Logistics two years ago. But he faced a steep learning curve.
The company was launching a second warehouse facility with a new information technology system. Mr Ong had used an automated system to pick goods at his previous company, but this one was more complex and had a different interface.

But he acknowledged that because many firms are feeling the effects of the economic slowdown, the Government will look at how it can help small and medium-sized enterprises “meet some of the immediate challenges” in the Budget on March 24. “Our aim is to help companies to navigate through this very difficult period,” said Mr Heng, who was speaking on the sidelines of a visit to Pan Asia Logistics Singapore in Tuas.
